What the Governor said at presentation of ‘Instruments’ to new Premier & Deputy on February 20

#TurksandCaicos, February 24, 2021 – Well I would like to congratulate you on an extraordinary victory that was declared by the Supervisor of Elections, only this morning and now we are going to swear you in as the Premier and Deputy Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

I have signed these two instruments (turning to C. Washington Misick, PNP Party Leader):

I Nigel Dakin, Govenror of the Turks and Caicos Islands in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by Sections 3 1b and 2 of the Constitution of the Turks and Caicos Islands hereby appoint, Charles Washington Misick, the elected member of the House of Assembly who commands the support of a majority of the elected members of the House, as Premier given under my hand and the public seal this 20^th day of February 2021.

And now (turning to Erwin EJ Saunders)

I Nigel Dakin, Govenor of the Turks and Caicos Islands in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by Sections 31 1c of the Constitution of the Turks and Caicos Islands and acting in accordance with the  advice of the Premier, hereby appoint Erwin Jay Saunders, the duly elected member of the House of Assembly and a minister of the government of the Turks and Caicos Islands as Deputy Premier  given under my hand and public seal this 20^th day of February 2021.
