PRESS RELEASE: (January 29, 2021) – The Turks & Caicos Islands has seen significant changes in its covid-19 position. Over the past 24hrs twenty-four (24) new cases of covid-19 have been identified.
Eighteen (18) on the island of Providenciales
and six (6) on Grand Turk.
Forty-three (43) new recoveries have been
recorded, bringing the total number of recoveries to one thousand and
ninety-four (1094).
The number of active confirmed cases in the
TCI now stands at three hundred and fifty-six (356). No (0) additional
confirmed cases have been hospitalized leaving the total number of
hospitalizations at eight (8).
The Public Health team continues to
implement aggressive contact tracing and control measures in relation to all
active cases. Total confirmed positive cases identified in the TCI to date now
stands at one thousand four hundred and fifty-nine (1459).
No (0) new Covid-19 related deaths have
been recorded. Total number of Covid-19 related deaths stands at eight (8).
Ninety-three (93) new test results have
been recorded by the national public health laboratory. To date, the TCI has
recorded a total of fourteen thousand one hundred and seventy-six (14,176) test
results, with twelve thousand seven hundred and seventeen (12,717) confirmed to
be negative and one thousand four hundred and fifty-nine (1459) positive
confirmations.
All persons confirmed not to have Covid-19,
and any contacts, (if quarantined, will be removed from quarantine/observation
status) are asked to continue following proper guidelines from the Ministry of Health.
The number of persons in quarantine/observation has increased to 880. This includes: confirmed cases (356), primary and secondary contacts of confirmed cases (524) – zero (0) persons are quarantined in a government facility. Persons under observation/quarantine, that are not confirmed or suspected cases, are either not displaying symptoms or have not met the case definition.
