Jamaica’s first COVID-19 death is 79-year-old man

#Jamaica – March 19, 2020 — A 79 year old Jamaican, returning home from New York is that country’s first COVID19 death.

Underlying health conditions were yet again a factor it seems; the man had both hypertension and diabetes.

The man is from Lionel Town, Clarendon and presented at hospital on Monday; he died at Mandeville Regional Hospital this afternoon while in isolation.

The test results came today with a positive for the coronavirus; same day of the man’s death.

Six test results are outstanding in JA. 

Jamaica has 15 confirmed cases of COVID19.
