TCI Authorities intercept Haitian sloop; residents not to make arrests

Citizens apprehend and tie up illegal Haitians who swam ashore when sloop was intercepted by Marine Police

#TurksandCaicosIslands – February 18, 2020 — An illegal vessel was intercepted early this morning, Tuesday 18th February in the Long Bay Area of Providenciales by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.

Several persons seem to have escaped from the vessel and swam ashore before being apprehended. Immigration Officers are still undertaking operations within the vicinity of where persons escaped.

While the Ministry responsible and the Immigration Department welcome the continued support of the public, residents are advised to desist from apprehending persons believed to have arrived via illegal vessel for your safety.
