BAHAMAS: BPL Daily Fact Sheet

#Nassau, November 12, 2019 – Bahamas – We did not load shed last night, nor did we have to today. We are expecting that we will also not have to load shed tonight. In the event that we do, we will post the schedule on our social media outlets as usual.

DA9 was put on the grid with 15 megawatts today as the testing phase for the unit nears completion. Meanwhile, the team is still considering its approach to GT7.

Today’s Load Shortage (Surplus) – 31 megawatts

Tomorrow’s Estimated Load Shortage – 0 megawatts

Today’s Projected Average Power Outage – 0 Hours

Tomorrow’s Estimated Average Power Outage – 0 hours

Average Power Outage (Last 24hrs): 0 Hours

Our current availability is 221 megawatts against an expected day peak of 185 megawatts and an expected evening peak of up to 190 megawatts.

CURRENT SITUATION & REMEDIATION STEPS:

UNIT 1 (GT10): GT10 is online with power to spare. We will continue to monitor the unit.

UNIT 2 (GT7): The team is considering various options for this unit and we will update once a path has been chosen.

UNIT 3 (DA9): DA9 is on the grid. The team completed repairs overnight and after a successful start, we were able to bring the machine online. The unit is on load with 15MW, but will be offline tomorrow for inspections. While we are satisfied the unit is stable and ready for service, we will continue to monitor its performance over the next few days.

TIMELINE: The team is optimistic about the possibility of bringing the unit online permanently sometime next week. We will update the public as information comes in.
