#Providenciales, October 3, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – New regulations to govern the prison, a new location for the Department of Road Safety and a Volunteer Management Policy were among the agenda items in the recent Cabinet meeting.
During the session on September 25, 2019 – which was attended by Delroy Williams, Minister for Immigration (acting for the Hon Premier); Karen Malcolm, Minister of Education; Ralph Higgs, Minister of Tourism; Anya Williams, Deputy Governor; Rhondalee Knowles, the Attorney General and chaired by Governor, HE Nigel Dakin – there were several key approvals.
Approved was the Planning Application submitted by the Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority for the construction of a fire house in Grand Turk.
The fire crew has been without a suitable roost since 2008, when Hurricane Ike damaged their base at the JAGS McCartney International Airport.
Approved was a Commercial fishing business licence application from Salty Knots Fishing and there were updates including a progress report on ‘actions of the Gap Analysis Steering Committee (Maritime) in preparation of a pending audit by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) of TCI in order to meet its obligations under International Conventions.’
Cabinet also received a report on public service recruitment, the progress on capital projects and budget preparations for the next financial year.
