#Nassau, September 23, 2019 – Bahamas – In the aftermath of
Hurricane Dorian, The Department of Inland Revenue wishes to advise all
VAT registrants operating businesses on Abaco, the Abaco Cays and/or Grand
Bahama that the filing of VAT returns due September 21, 2019 and October
21, 2019 have now been extended until November 30, 2019; for
businesses requiring an extension.
Further, businesses on
Abaco, the Abaco Cays and/or Grand Bahama that wish to temporarily suspend operations
(Business Licence) are required to submit a change of circumstance request
by October 30, 2019. This request to temporarily suspend operations may be
submitted either as a change of circumstance request case through your Online
Tax Administration System (OTAS) account or by completing and submitting the
FORM 71 to the Island Administrator’s Office on Abaco or at the Department of
Inland Revenue office on either on Grand Bahama or New Providence.
Additionally, FORM 71 is available online at https://inlandrevenue.finance.gov.bs/value-added-tax/forms/.
VAT registrants holding funds for the government on the affected islands are encouraged to make the required payments.
