BAHAMAS: Employers to assist with employee records (For Businesses Affected by Hurricane Dorian)

#Nassau, September 26, 2019 – Bahamas – In order to help expedite the processing of claims for the Unemployment Benefit for claimants impacted by Hurricane Dorian, the National Insurance Board advises Employers from Grand Bahama and the Abacos whose businessesresulted in staff layoffs and loss of wages, that it will accept a listing of your unemployed staff in cases where the required Employers Lay-Off Certificate (Form B80) cannot be issued to each employee.

Employers providing employee lists are to include:

  • The full name of employee;
  • The National Insurance number;
  • c. Employment start and end dates; and,
  • d. Date of birth (if available) for each employee.

Where N.I. numbers are not readily available, please ensure that the employees’ full legal names are provided, as much as practicable. Employers are asked to email their lists to nibcares@nib-bahamas.com.

Employers who would have lost all employee records are to contact the Compliance Department at 502.1625 / 502.1653 or by email to compliance@nib-bahamas.com for further assistance.
