#Bahamas, September 6, 2019 – Tourism partners have in the past three days stepped forward with announcements of millions of dollars in relief and money for The Bahamas, as the country begins the hefty work of rebuilding following a deadly encounter with Hurricane Dorian.
Help is coming
from around and includes tourism partners like Sandals Resorts International’s
Sandals Foundation; Disney Cruises; Royal Caribbean Cruise lines and Carnival
Cruise Line.
Carnival
announced a donation of $2 million and said they are considering how they will
be able to assist the Grand Bahama Shipyard and its staff. Carnival
said once the ports are ready to accept them, their ships will go in.
Add to this
major support, the largest single donation so far, Carnival Cruise Line
explained that it has partners with Tropical Shipping to get food and supplies
donated by South Floridians into The Bahamas.
The Bahamas
National Emergency Management Agency is to guide this tremendous gift.
Royal
Caribbean tweeted that its relationship with The Bahamas spans five decades and
their donation will be in the form of building supplies directly to hurricane
victims, food and water and $1 million to help The Bahamas Government rebuild.
Additionally,
a gift of $100,000 to Freeport is pledged by ITM, Royal Caribbean’s partner in
developing the Grand Lucayan Resort. RCL is one of the islands newest investors
and the company announced that it remains committed to its plans for Freeport,
Grand Bahama.
Royal Caribbean is also loading up supplies like water, generators and cleaning supplies which are all Bahamas-bound.
