TCI: Travel Rules for imports from TCI Department of Agriculture

#Providenciales, August 5, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – Travel season is here and the Department of Agriculture issued advice to those entering the Turks and Caicos Islands. Among the reminders was that if you are bringing in plants, fruits, vegetables and flowers, they must be free of roots and soil.  

You are required to wash fruits and households can bring as many as 25 pounds of fruits and vegetables.  Anything over 25 pounds requires an import permit in advance, to be obtained from the Agriculture Department.  Plants or flowers with soil and roots required a special local permit in addition to a Phytosanitary Permit from the country of export.  

When it comes to meat; domestic import is allowed up to 99 pounds and as with all imports, it must be declared with the Customs Department.  

If your meat import surpasses 99 pounds, then it will require a permit and you can expect there to be an inspection of the imported meat.  

As for pets, an import permit is also required for legal entry of the animal or animals; do this in advance of travel.
