WOMAN ARRESTED FOR OBSCENE PUBLICATION

On Wednesday, August 28th, 2019 Officers of the Safeguarding and Public Protection Unit arrested a 20-year-old woman on Suspicion of Obscene Publication, in connection to a report that was made on Saturday, August 17th, 2019.

The woman who was arrested on Grand Turk, received bail in the amount of US$5000.00.

The Public is reminded that it is against the Law to share and publish obscene videos or postings in any format, under The Obscene Publications Ordinance and upon conviction can be liable to a fine of US$5000.00 or a term of imprisonment of six months or both.

POLICE INVESTIGATES TWO ROBBERIES

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force is seeking the public’s help with information into two robberies that recently took place.

In the first incident, on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 around 8:15 p.m., Police responded to a Variety Store located at the Walkin Plaza along Five Cays Road and spoke to a 50-year-old woman who stated that she was inside of the business establishment when two masked men dressed in all black entered, taking money from the cash register, a hand bag containing Identification Cards and an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to the complainant, the assailants fled the scene on foot into nearby bushes and fired one shot into the air. There were no reports of injuries in this matter.

In the second incident, on Thursday August 29th, 2019 at 3:01 a.m., a 34-year-old man reported to 911 that an armed masked man approached him as he was exiting his car on Church Avenue in Blue Hills. Taken were a Samsung Galaxy mobile device, an Identification card and cash.

According the complainant, the man made good of his escape on foot in an unknown direction. There were no shots fired or injuries reported in this incident.

BODY FOUND COOPER JACK BAY AREA

On Wednesday August 28th, 2019, at 5:30 p.m., 911 received a call that a body was found in water in Cooper Jack Bay Providenciales. The Forensic Support Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force responded to the location and observed a woman dressed in a black spandex pants and a white shirt, face down inside of the water.

The woman was pronounced dead by a medical Doctor at 7:02 p.m., and taken to the Morgue.

The identity of the woman is unknown at this time, however there are currently no missing person reports locally.
