TCI: Hurricane Preparation: Sand Collection Locations
#Provideniales, August 27, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The Department of Environment & Coastal Resources (DECR) would like to advise the public that sand, for the filling of sand bags during hurricane preparations, may be collected at the following locations:
· Providenciales: National Environmental Centre, DECR, Lower Bight Road
· Grand Turk: Central Processing Unit (CPU) Yard
· South Caicos: Library yard
· North & Middle Caicos, Salt Cay: Please contact the District Commissioner for further instruction
Please also bring along a shovel to load the bags with sand. Please contact your nearest Red Cross branch to determine when and where sand bags may be collected. Also note that sand is limited to 10 bags per household.
Sand is available with immediate effect until 4 p.m. today 27th August and continuing until 4 each day. Distributions begins at 8.30 a.m.
