TCI: Commissioner Trevor Botting on recent robbery

#Providenciales, August 16, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – Three suspects are still in Police Custody following the Robbery of the Kishco Music Man on the Airport Road Providenciales and the robbery where a car was taken soon after on Wednesday, August 14th, 2019 around 3:00 p.m. 

The two 16-year-olds and an 18-year-old were arrested nearby, shortly after the robberies.  They tried to escape but were arrested by Police Officers responding to the report. 

In thanking the team on their response in catching the assailants, Commissioner of Police Trevor Botting said he pleased that the suspects were apprehended safely within minutes after committing the crime – this shows a great team effort.

Commissioner Botting commented, “It was a broad team effort, but I specifically wanted to say thank you to the those directly involved in the arrest of the suspects.  You don’t need me to tell you how dangerous a situation this presents, given the circumstances of the robbery. As always, I am in awe of the courage shown by officers in this situation where there is a real and known threat to them at a time when they are operating with limited information. The officer’s training is important but so is their judgment, teamwork and most of all their courage in confronting criminals who seem to have little regard for the safety of others”.

“I know I speak on behalf of my Force Executive Team colleagues when I say thank you to the Officers involved all for what they do, it is appreciated by us, the Force and the communities of the TCI”, said Commissioner Botting.

The Commissioner added that he is concerned at the young age of the suspects and their alleged involvement in criminal activity and that this should be a concern for all of us on the Turks and Caicos Islands. 

Commissioner Botting added “I want to also make it clear that the Officers and Staff of the RTCIPF will use all the resources necessary means to catch those responsible for the increase in firearm-related crimes in the Country. We are on to you, we are determined to find you, arrest you and ensure you are brought to justice. The RTCIPF is committed to keeping the communities of the Turks and Caicos Islands safe”.
