BAHAMAS: NEMA Saddened by Loss of Committee Member Colin Trotman

#Nassau, August 9, 2019 – Bahamas – The National Disaster Preparedness Committee and the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, are saddened over the death of Colin Trotman, Jr., Assistant General Manager, TV Production of the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas, (ZNS).

Mr. Trotman, 57, died on the early morning of Wednesday, August 7, 2019.

In expressing condolences to family and colleagues, Director of NEMA Captain Stephen Russell said that Mr. Trotman represented ZNS well on the disaster committee of which he played an integral role, since its early inception located in the Churchill Building in Rawson Square, Downtown Nassau.

“During the construction of our present facility, he ensured that data connection was installed for live feed, thus ensuring that NEMA could broadcast live, 24 hours. He was committed to excellence.” Capt. Russell said.

According to Capt. Russell, Trotman shared his vision of mentoring persons, as he wished upon retirement to leave a cadre of individuals who would take ZNS to the next level.

“We will remember Colin for his professionalism as he served on Emergency Support Function Groups #2, #4 Planning and #12 Tourism. His willingness to learn and to assist others as well as his sense of humour will always be remembered,” Capt. Russell said.

Referring to the character of Mr. Trotman, Capt. Russell quoted from an unknown author:

“Not, how did he die, but how did he live?  Not, what did he gain, but what did he give?  These are the units to measure the worth of a man as a man, regardless of birth.”
