TCI: Department of Statistics conducting multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) pre-test of questionnaires exercise

#Providenciales, July 1, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The Department of Statistics, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), will be conducting a pre-test of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) questionnaires at a selected sample of households from July 1st to July 5th, 2019 in selected areas of Providenciales. 

The MICS is an international household survey programme developed by UNICEF which provides valuable information on the situation of children, families and households in a country.

The MICS is of national importance to the TCI as it is intended to support government efforts to promote evidence-based policy making.  In addition, it will provide support for Turks and Caicos Islands with regards to monitoring national development strategies, poverty reduction strategies, national action plans for children and will be a major contributor in measuring progress under the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Indicators. 

For these reasons, the Department is asking the general public for its cooperation in this exercise.  The conduct of this pre-test will be in compliance with Section 12 of the Statistics Ordinance 2012, which states that your supplied information remains confidential to this office and will be used for statistical purposes only. All enumerators are required to sign an Oath of Secrecy binding them to confidentiality under the Statistics Ordinance 2012.

All interviewers are provided with an identification card with their name and picture as well as the Department of Statistics name and logo.  In addition, All enumerators will be wearing a marked neon green t-shirt.  Persons are urged to contact the Department if there are any doubts or concerns.
