#Providenciales, July 9, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The Deputy Premier and Minister of Infrastructure, Housing, Planning and Development, Hon. Sean Astwood, Ministry staff and members of the Public Works Department (PWD), recently concluded an official visit to the island of South Caicos, where they toured the following government Capital Projects and sites for additional projects:
- Marjorie Basden High School
- Iris Stubbs Primary school
- South Caicos Government Office Complex
- Hurricane Shelters
In
addition, while in South Caicos the team also discussed works to the following
sites:
- Community Center
- Government Clinic
- Regatta Village and Wharf (ITT being
finalized)
- Wellness Center
- and much needed works to the Public
Library
Hon.
Astwood in commenting on the visit stated; “The Government realizes that
one of the critical needs of the residents of South Caicos is to have proper
infrastructure and better working conditions for civil servants, students and
proper access to public services. The Office of the Deputy Premier and
the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing & Planning will remain committed to
ensuring all efforts are made within this financial year to adequately address
these problems.
“With
the full backing of the Government (under the Development Fund), the PWD
through existing and pending new projects for South Caicos, have already taken
bold initiatives to ensure that suitable spaces and proper working environments
are in place for the students, civil servants and residents alike.
“The Ministry therefore request the patience of the General Public and residents of south Caicos as we aggressively implement new capital projects and ensure the timely completion of the critical projects currently underway.”
