#Providenciales, June 4, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – Over the years, more than 250 fathers and
daughters have participated in the Dance with Cinderella which is hosted by
Nutrition in Demand and founder, Tamika Handfield explained that it is designed
to strengthen the bond between fathers and their daughters.
“It allows daughters to see their dads in a
light, goofy environment; not always being the disciplinarian. And it allows dads to interact with their
daughters on his terms (with no mom interference) and allows him to show his
daughter how she should expect to be treated by her future husband.”
Tamika Handfield, days ahead of Dance with
Cinderella told Magnetic Media that for her, this event is personal.
“I was not raised with my biological father in
my life and while my grandfather loved me and did what was necessary
financially, there was never a close relational bond. I always wondered what that was like – for a
girl to be close with her dad. I decided
I would do what I could to prevent another girl growing up with that void. Our story is never only about us; so this is
where the idea of having an event just for fathers and their daughters
originated.”
Dance with Cinderella was started in 2014 and
is an outing for daughters to become glamourous little princesses who are
escourted by their dashing dads; the evening is always magical and includes
dinner, games, prizes, giveaways and cash bar.
The 2019 event will be held at the Palms Resort
on Saturday June 8 from 6:30-9:30pm; and is also a fundraiser.
“Funds raised during this event go toward
helping with our summer camp, Kid Fit; an exercise program just for children,
our upcoming community garden and a new afterschool program we would like to
start in the Fall.”
Mrs. Handfield said father figures are also
welcomed to come with their daughters and multiple daughters have a chance to
dance with their fathers.
“We understand that for whatever reason, some
girls do not have their fathers in their lives. Therefore, men who play the role of father
figure in a girl’s life are more than welcomed.”
Tickets are $75 for father and one daughter and $40 for additional daughters. Call 649-442-3978 for your tickets.
