#Providenciales, June 6, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The
Office of the Deputy Governor is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms.
Lakeia Lewis as the new Deputy Director of the Budget Department.
Ms.
Lewis graduated from Howard University School of Business in Washington, D.C.
in 2013 with a Bachelor of Business Administration – Finance with honors (Magna
Cum Laude).
Upon
returning to the Turks and Caicos, she was employed at the National Audit
Office for a period of 10 months, before taking up employment as a Finance
Officer turned Budget Analyst in the Budget Office in the Ministry of Finance
in 2014.
In 2015,
Ms. Lewis was promoted to the post of Senior Budget Analyst where she
participated in numerous training programs including: Macro Economic Revenue
Forecasting, Public Financial Management in a Changing World, and a SOE
Oversight Workshop.
Ms.
Lewis is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Finance through the London
School of Business with the help of the Turks & Caicos Islands Professional
Development Fund and is also the current President of the Rotaract Club of
Grand Turk.
Ms.
Lewis while discussing her new appointment stated; “I am eternally
grateful to God and am overjoyed for the opportunity to serve as the Deputy
Budget Director within the Budget Office.
I am
eternally grateful for the lessons and encouraging words instilled in me by the
Budget Director and other senior management in the Ministry of Finance since my
tenure here and it is with great anticipation that I will effectively and
efficiently take on this new challenge and learn to better myself through this
experience.”
Deputy
Governor and Head of the Public Service Her Excellency Anya Williams in
congratulating Ms. Lewis said: “On behalf of the Turks and Caicos Islands
Public Service we extend our congratulations to Ms. Lewis on her recent
promotion.
We appreciate the hard work and dedication of this department and am certain that she will do exceptionally well.”
