#Providenciales, May 17, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – His Curriculum Vitae features the names of places which have struggled with internal and international conflict; and it says he has worked in these hot spots with special focus on counter-terrorism.

Nigel Dakin was today announced as the new governor to the Turks and Caicos Islands; he will replace Dr. John Freeman in July as the current governor moves on.

In a very brief notice on its website, The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office announced the successor of His Excellency Dr. Freemen and as is customary, listed were the experiences of the new appointee.

Nigel Dakin has worked in the Ministry of Defence, held the desk in Russia; in Lagos in Nigeria, he was the first secretary and one cannot help but notice the recurring mention of his work in counter terrorism in places like South Asia, the Middle East and specifically, Dakin has worked in the UK,  Washington, Islamabad and Kabul.  Counter-proliferation was his job focus in Delhi, according to the CV.

One has to be impressed by the fact that Nigel Dakin is coming to the Turks and Caicos from a job in Washington DC where he held the post as Counsellor and National Security Lead.
