#Providenciales, April 20, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – Often a hot-spot for trouble, Kew Town Providenciales residents were greeted with a different kind of fire yesterday when Christians of Community Fellowship Centre and Life Centre Assemblies of God churches congregated for a service highlighting The Last Seven Sayings of Jesus Christ.
Good Friday, which is the commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
The
service was held near Rooster Black store in the area, under a tent with
speakers, microphones, hymns singing and gospel ministers of the churches
preaching on the final words spoken as Jesus hung on the cross.
While
residents, for the most part kept their distance, hundreds were within ear shot
of the messages and from time to time, made an appearance at the spot.
Sermons
focused on the love of God for humankind, forgiveness of sins, alternatives to
conflict and violence, individual value and worth, the family love accessible
in the Church, a denouncement of afflictions and addictions and repeated
admonitions for those listening to come out of where they are to experience a
truly richer life in the Body of Christ.
Following ‘The Seven Last Sayings’, there was a breaking of bread; hot-crossed buns, cheese and water were served as is the traditional meal on Good Friday.
