#Providenciales, April 14, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – A man who on Friday waltzed into the headquarters of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands police station in Providenciales, apparently looking for trouble, was subdued and arrested and will face formal charges for his erratic behavior.

The man, whose identity is disclosed in social media posts as Lorenzo Cesar, will be formally charged confirmed police with Assault on a Police Officer.

Thirty-four-year-old Lorenzo Cesar has a history of alleged assault; in 2018, while serving time at Her Majesty’s Prison in Grand Turk he was fingered for attacking a Guyanese prison guard.  Cesar was also convicted on a battery of charges linked to a botched attempt at armed robbery in 2014 at Cashwiz.

In this incident, Cesar was said to have walked into the station around 1 p.m. and was carrying a suspicious looking backpack when he allegedly began an aggressive, physical assault on officers on duty at the time.

Social media commentary likened the reported attack to a ‘terrorist’ attack, largely due to the backpack which could have been concealing something dangerous.

Other comments from relatives say the man was trying to re-claim possessions left at the police station during a previous arrest, when the visit turned confrontational.

However, Magnetic Media is informed that the man was restrained and no one was seriously hurt.
