Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Wednesday, April 24, 2019) – As of 3:39 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 24, service was fully restored to all customers in the Leeward area of Providenciales, who were affected by an earlier outage.
The interruption
in electricity began at approximately 7:09 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, and was
the result of a failed connector in the underground system. Crews worked
through the night and early morning troubleshooting. Identifying the exact
location of the fault was a challenge because the area was covered by what
appears to be recent roadwork.
Once the
location of the fault was identified, civil works were carried out – breaking
through concrete and asphalt – to access the buried cables and conduct the
necessary repairs.

to everyone involved for their remarkable display of determination, dedication,
and teamwork.”
