#Providenciales, March 7, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The former Director of the National Insurance Board, Walter Gardiner continues to share his knowledge and expertise of social security best practices and recently returned from Anguilla where he conducted a Compliance and Collections Training Seminar.

“The training programme was specifically tailored for the Anguilla Social Security Board, covering all the critical areas necessary to promote full compliance in the collection of contributions due to social security / national insurance organizations, focusing mainly on techniques from the education and engagement of contributors, the prevention and detection of non-compliance to the enforcement / prosecution of defaulters,” said Mr. Gardiner.

Nine social security board members participated in the seminar from February 18-March 1, 2019 and Gardiner, who is also the country’s first Labour Commissioner and who holds a Master’s Degree in Business, was well qualified for the two-week workshop.

“It was an overwhelming success and the Anguilla Social Security Board Inspectors were left invigorated and better equipped to protect their Social Security Fund, increase their Organization’s contribution revenue, reduce levels of contributor delinquency and significantly improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their Compliance Department.”

Following a comprehensive review of statutory bodies in the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Governor Dr. John Freeman and Premier Sharlene Robinson revealed that among the best run Government Boards in the country was the NIB.

Walter Gardiner shared that as a senior officer with direct responsibility for the compliance operations of the NIB for 26, he served as a Compliance Facilitator and Trainer for similar regional social security seminars in St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Dominica.
