Vaden Delroy Williams, Minister with responsibility for Home Affairs, Transportation and Communications attended the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, from February 25th – February 28th, 2019 and accompanied by acting Director General of the Telecommunications Commission Mr. Kenva Williams, Telecommunications Engineer Mr. Russell Gardiner and Head of Secretariat in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs. Sakera Cook.
MWC Barcelona is
the largest mobile event in the world, bringing together the latest innovations
and leading-edge technology from more than 2,400 leading companies. It is a
highly-rated conference programme assembling today’s visionaries to explore the
hottest topics influencing the industry and countries alike.
Hon. Williams

believe it is of paramount importance that the Turks and Caicos Islands

As with previous events, the Mobile World Congress comprised of an international exhibition and conference, dedicated to mobile technologies and future innovations for the mobile world. The GSMA’s prestigious Ministerial Programme also brought together the most influential telecommunications leaders from around the globe.
In 2019, the extensive programme
of activities broadened the traditional policy and regulation discussion, with
a new focus on mobile service and the emerging digital citizen. Convening industry
CEOs, Ministers, telecommunicationsregulators, data protection authorities and
senior representatives of international organizations, capitalized on this
unique forum to expand knowledge, stimulate debate around current issues and
engage with mobile industry experts on policy and regulatory topics.
Since launching in 2006, the Ministerial Programme’s popularity and scope have grown each year. In 2019, the event welcomed over 2,000 senior-level participants, including representatives from 181 governments and international organizations.
