#Providenciales, March 23, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The first step to ending years and years of the Turks and Caicos having safe, reliable, public transportation was yesterday taken, and introduced was a service the PDM Government is calling, Community Cabs.

Steadily, this new form of public transportation will erase the illegal jitneys with their unknown drivers, sometimes shabby upkeep and dangerous reports which include cases of rape.

The first Community Cab was yesterday fully registered and presented to the public; ready for operation and catering mainly to the domestic, residential community… people who need to get around, can now pay between three and seven dollars for a ride in one of these very distinguishable automobiles, which are privately owned.

First owner is Kevin Clarke and he said the investment was just under $10,000 including the vehicle, full insurance coverage for car, driver and passengers and government licenses.

Kevin has outfitted his Community Cab with onboard security camera, free wi-fi and it smells nice, is clean and comfortable.  You Ride Safe, Clarke’s cab company name will be available mainly in the evenings and on weekends.

Community Cabs will be white sedans with two turquoise strips running the length of the body of the vehicle and all drivers and owners must have a public service license and Tourist Board training.

This new area of business is for Turks and Caicos Islanders only.
