TCI: 3 Day Crisis/Emergency Communications Workshop

#Providenciales, March 12, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) in partnership with the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) will be hosting a 3 day Crisis/Emergency Communication Workshop and Tabletop Exercise from March 13-15, 2019 at the DDME’s, Providenciales Office.

This workshop aims to:-

1. Review the existing Emergency Communication Plan and Call out Tree

2. Develop a Communication Protocol for Crisis Communication for First Responders

3. Conduct a Tabletop Exercise to test the plan and protocols that were updated

Over 35 persons are expected to be in attendance, from approximately 20 agencies including government, private sector and Non-Government Organizations.

It is hoped that at the end of this plan development exercise, the gaps that were identified during recent events will be improved to ensure better communication and coordination of emergency situations.

The workshop will be facilitated by the instructors from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) from the United States of America.
