At least five Caribbean country leaders are preparing to leave for the Mar-a-Lago Resort in Florida this weekend for a meeting with US President Donald Trump.
Reports
of the meeting are carried in leading media and explain that the session with
Jamaica, Haiti, St Lucia, the Dominican Republic and The Bahamas is
multi-pronged.
A thank
you for CARICOM support of peace and democracy in Venezuela and talk of the potential
in energy investment are expected to come from President Trump.
Among
other things, the Caribbean has long been advocating for greater support from
the United States as it grapples with a deadly surge gun violence.
The meeting will take place March 22, 2019.
