Candace Hanchell, TCIFA 2nd Vice President and head of Women’s Football who presided over the event commented that  “2018 has met Women’s Football with many unexpected events, including the withdrawal from two major international competitions and a decrease in games due to reasons beyond our control.  But, already, 2019 is shining brightly with the addition of Ms. Yunelsis Rodriguez-Baez – Director of Women’s Football, and an increase of young players who are greatly enthused about the game and have showed their commitment to the sport.  As our pool of players continue to grow, we look forward to an increase in eligible players for our Girls U15 and Women’s National Football Teams.  We also look forward to having more playing opportunities this year. It is imperative that we continue to motivate and provide the best opportunities for our players.”

It was made clear of the determination to continue to propel women’s football, in the Turks & Caicos Islands, forward.  This was solidified with General Secretary- Oliver Smith’s remarks setting out his hopes and plans for 2019, onward.  An overview of the roadmap for a more successful development programme was discussed, with the intent to continuously increase the profile and uptake of women’s football.
