TCI: Security-Tight Paper Documents Coming for Birth and Death Certificates

#Providenciales, February 20, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – By next week, a more secure document for births and deaths in the Turks and Caicos Islands will be available at Registration and Citizenship Department and the government is confident it will reduce forgery.

“These new certificates, which will have several security features, is intended to minimize the illegal production of fraudulent documents, which has become prevalent in recent years. All stakeholders locally and internationally will be briefed on these changes.”

Minister of Border Control and Employment, Deputy Premier, Sean Astwood (DP) confirmed that forgery of TCIG issued documents is a serious problem.  DP Astwood explained “one forged document has the potential of helping one gain a legal document; and it goes on from there…”

“This initiative is in keeping with our aims to improve the security and integrity of Government-issued documents within the Turks and Caicos Islands.” 

A public notice said:The Department of Registration and Citizenship within the Ministry of Border Control and Employment Services hereby advises the public that, effective February 25, 2019, Turks and Caicos Islands’ Birth and Death certificates will be replaced by a secured paper certificate.  Additional information including our forms can be found on the website www.gov.tc under the Ministry of Border Control and Employment Services.
