TCI: Renarda Williams Appointed as Customs Department Director of Compliance

#Providenciales, February 1, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The Turks and Caicos Islands civil service wishes to extend its congratulations to Renarda Williams on her recent appointment to the post of Director of Compliance within the Turks and Caicos Islands Customs Department.

Renarda joined the civil service in 2012 as a Tax Officer within the Ministry of Finance Revenue Department.  She holds an Associate Degree in Business Studies from the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Barry University in Miami, Florida.

She is currently pursuing an MBA program by distance at Arden University in the United Kingdom and has benefited from numerous training programs during her tenure at the Revenue Department including an attachment to Inland Revenue in Jamaica funded by the Civil Service Professional Development Fund.

Commenting on the appointment Deputy Governor Anya Williams said; “The Director of Compliance is a new post that was created to assist the Collector of Customs in ensuring that adequate and appropriate control systems are operated within the Customs department.  The post holder is responsible for planning and managing the internal audit programmes in all Operational Units and, along with the Collector is responsible for ensuring that the strategic direction of the Department corresponds to Government objectives.  We congratulate Ms. Williams on her successful appointment and hope that the training and experience gained in the Revenue Department will be an asset to her role.  We are confident in her ability and know that she will do extremely well.”

In expressing her thanks Ms. Williams said: “I am indeed grateful and excited for the opportunity to take on this role which has allowed me excel within the Ministry of Finance.  I am known to be a hard-working, highly motivated and successful individual and a proud civil servant!  During my tenure in the Revenue Department I have contributed tremendously to the work of that department, particularly the Compliance Division and although it saddens me to bid farewell to my colleagues, I look forward to this new challenge, to use the experience and knowledge gained to deliver the best quality service to my department, and by extension, the government and people of the Turks and Caicos Islands.”
