“The
compilation and maintenance of the Register of Interests is an important
constitutional function of the Commission. Its aim is to promote transparency, openness and accountability, and
thus strengthen public trust and confidence in the parliamentary and democratic
process. It also provides the Hon. Members with a measure of protection
against unwarranted criticism of perceived or actual conflicts between a member’s
private interests and his or her public duty.
The
Commission wishes to commend the Hon. Members of the Turks and Caicos Islands
House of Assembly for their exemplary cooperation and support in the
compilation and production of this Register of Interests for 2017.”
