Update: It’s a Joke, no new PNP Leader candidate

#Providenciales, February 6, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – We all commend it when islanders dare to dream big and reach high in their pursuits…  That is likely why this self recorded submission for the PNP leadership race is gaining traction.

Lewis Francis of Grand Turk says he wants progress, a bright future for children and Premiership of the TCI as he throws his hat into the ring and that includes the General Elections.

The PNP leadership vote, announced for March 2019, is so far a two-man race, it seems.  Yesterday, there came a bombshell bow-out by former party leader and former premier Dr. Rufus Ewing as one vying for the post.

The first announced applicant for the job was GDT North MP, George Lightbourne… he penned this to Magnetic Media about Dr. Ewing yesterday.

“I just want to say that Rufus is a great leader, he is my friend and one whom I have the utmost respect for, he has  contributed tremendously to the growth of the Turks and Caicos Islands and our people, I believe that our country is better off because of his hard work and dedication.  I’m somewhat saddened that a man who still has so much to offer our party and our country is taking a temporary back seat… I do hope that he continues to serve in whatever capacity he deems necessary because he still maintains and enjoys major support within our party and our country. I will always be indebted to him for allowing me to serve along side from 2012 to 2016… he is a good man.”

Lewis Francis says currently he serves as fire chief on Ambergris Cay.

We have been, so far unable to speak directly to Mr. Francis.  And we are still trying to confirm his candidacy with party chairman, Royal Robinson.

Some people believe the video announcement may be nothing more than a “joke.”

And apparently it was, as Mr. Lewis recently responded:
