TCI: Illegal Vessel Landing on February 4, 2019

#Providenciales, February 6, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The Ministry of Border Control and Employment and the Immigration Department confirm that an illegal vessel landed on Providenciales on the morning of February 4, 2019.

At noon, nineteen (19) persons including fifteen (15) males and four (4) females were apprehended in the North West Point area of Providenciales after Enforcement Unit Division B was informed by 911 at approximately 8:00 a.m. today.  These persons will be processed and detained at the Detention Center until repatriation.

The Enforcement agencies of the Turks and Caicos Islands are again asking anyone with information concerning planned and landed arrival of other vessels to contact the Police anonymously on 911 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1-800-8477.

The public is also reminded that it is an offence to harbour illegal persons and that persons found guilty engaging in such activities are liable to a fine of US$20,000 or a term of imprisonment of four years, or both in accordance with Section 99 of the Immigration Ordinance 2015.

The public is also requested to provide the Police with tips or any information related to this or any other illegal landing. Tips can be submitted anonymously in English, French or Spanish on either www.crimestoppers.tc or on Facebook as a fan of Crime Stoppers Turks & Caicos.
