#Providenciales, February 22, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – The Year 2019 is The Year of the Boys at Clement
Howell High School and on Wednesday the government senior high school held an
all-day event catering to the gifts and talents of their over 180 male students.
“We are focusing on improving boys’ education so we
are trying to do a number of activities that would empower the boys and we are
trying to choose things that they are interested in, that grabs their talents
and skills.”
Talents and Skills were in fine form
too. Entertaining performances in song and dance, competitions
including discus, art, dance arm wrestling and culinary and prizes including a
$25 cash pot for the first five boys to arrive at school on Boys Day.
Principal of CHHS, Kadean Cunnningham, laughed as
she explained that particular prize was so alluring that nearly 100 boys were
at school by 6:30 a.m. and there were rumors that some boys may have slept on
site.
“One of the things that shocked us, because we have
never had it happen in the history of the school. When the security
officers came here the school was packed with boys, boys who come at 9 o’clock
and those times, they were here on time. We heard that some persons
slept here from 4:30 a.m. but we don’t know how true that is…”
Yesterday, there were two
presentations. Dr. Patrick Prince presented on the effects of
alcohol and drugs on daily living and Javon Harvey, who gave a general
presentation embracing the theme of the day.
“Living my best Life” was the theme for the Clement Howell High School Boys Day on February 20, 2019.
