#Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – November 9, 2018 – CORRECTED Police confirm that one gun shot was indeed fired and that they are now investigating the armed robbery of a man in the parking lot of CIBCFirstCaribbean on Leeward Highway around 12:30pm today; report is that robbers got away with $5,000 from the business owner.

“According to 911 Central, at 12:30 p.m., two men armed with guns robbed a man who was leaving the First Caribbean International Bank of an undisclosed amount of cash, before fleeing in a grey car,” informs TCI Police press officer, Takara Bain, in a media statement.

It is another bold daytime heist, despite the activation of CCTV cameras across the island of Providenciales, and residents are alarmed at the increasing and persistent audacity of criminals.

The businessman was reportedly carrying payroll when he was ambushed and robbed of the cash.  We correct that the business owner was not from Carlisle Supplies and apologise for any embarrassment caused in our previous report.

While it is unclear if the gun was fired after the businessman, it is certain that at least one shot was ‘let off’ in the often crowded parking lot of CIBCFirstCaribbean on what is a customary payday for hundreds of workers.

“Police are appealing to members of the public who may have any information in connection to this robbery please contact police right away on 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1- 800-8477.”
