TCI: Man who bit off woman’s finger sentenced to 32 years for four guilty verdicts

#Providenciales, November 1, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – Rashad Stubbs, the man who bit off the finger of a visitor to the Turks and Caicos Islands during an armed robbery will spend the next 13 years of his life at Her Majesty’s Prison.

Stubbs, was found guilty on all four counts on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 and the judge, Justice Shiraz Aziz on Monday announced what those guilty verdicts would cost the young man in prison time.

For the charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm, Stubbs got three years; it was an eight year sentence for carrying a firearm and another eight years for carrying ammunition.  The longest prison sentence was connected to the conviction on assault with the intent to rob; 13 years in HMP for the young man.

 In total, 32 years of imprisonment.

The incident happened at a gaming parlour in The Bight, when it was reported that Stubbs, armed with a gun tried to rob the place when there was retaliation.  The fight involved owners of the business and guests, including a tourist woman whose finger was bitten off by Stubbs.  It was reported of the gruesome encounter that “he spat the woman’s finger onto the floor.”  Stubbs got away that day, leaving his gun at the scene; he was eventually arrested by Police and charged.   

Rashad Stubbs will not have to serve the time consecutively; it is a concurrent sentence which means he will serve for all crimes at the same time, with imprisonment lasting as long as the longest sentence at 13 years.
