TCI: Police Investigate Recent Robberies/Shooting

#Providenciales, October 30, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – The Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force on the Island of Providenciales is investigating two robberies and a shooting that occurred on Sunday, October 28th, 2018.

In the first report at 8:18 p.m., a group of four, in a vehicle while parking on Silverado Road South Dock, were approached by armed men who demanded money. According to the victims, the armed masked culprits instructed them to step out of the vehicle, taking a cell phone, $250 in cash, personal items and documents, before taking the car keys and driving off. There are no reports of shots fired or injuries in this incident.

Shortly after, Police responded to a second report at a residence on South Dock Road where a 41-year-old male said as he entered his home, he was approached by three armed men who demanded entry to his home. According to the victim who did not comply, the culprits fired three rounds of ammunition before fleeing the scene. There are no reports of injuries.

In a third incident, at 9:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Kew Town. According to reports, a white four-door car drove up to a bar and fired rounds of ammunition towards the bar. A 23-year-old man who was walking in the said area was struck by a bullet. The man was taken to the Cheshire Medical Centre for treatment.
