#Providenciales, October 29, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – The United Kingdom has to give the Turks and Caicos permission to continue on its path to having APIS or the Advanced Passenger Information System with its country partners in CARICOM.

Turks and Caicos was in May 2017 became the first Associate Member country to sign onto the APIS system which will be established between CARICOM and the United States.

During the National Security council meeting held October 18, Premier Sharlene Robinson informed that “a letter of entrustment had been requested from the UK Government to enable TCI to sign the instrument of accession to the Memorandum of Understanding for intelligence sharing among Member States of CARICOM which is necessary for TCI’s participation…”.

The activation of APIS is significantly delayed though, as it was expected the program would have been started in the Turks and Caicos since September 2017.
