South Caicos, October 19, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – Police confirm that a fire, shortly after midnight, has brought further destruction to the historic Regatta Village in South Caicos.

Images shared with Magnetic Media show a huge blaze and Police Press Officer, Takara Bain explained moments ago that a part of the building was burned.

“At 12:15 am 911 received reports of the fire on the western part of the shed.  Police and Fire officials arrived shortly after.  No reports of injuries and that part of the shed was used as storage.  However, nothing valuable was lost,” said Takara Bain, TCI Police Press Officer.

The village site was battered in the winds and surge waters of the 2017 hurricanes.

Ms. Bain said the cause of the fire is, at this time, unknown.
