#Providenciales, October 29, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – Maybe it was a slip of the tongue when the Premier Sharlene Robinson referred to the independent inquiry for the rate request increase by FortisTCI as a commission of inquiry… still FortisTCI this week issued statement to correct it.

The electricity provider, which in July made an application to increase electricity by average 6.8 percent said this, “While the Electricity Ordinance refers to sections of the Commissions of Inquiry Ordinance as an administrative mechanism, it is totally incorrect to term an Inquiry requested by the Public Supplier (in this case, FortisTCI) as a Commission of Inquiry. It is not.”

FortisTCI said the inquiry is a normal part of the rate increase application process and the independent inquiry will give an objective, professional, non political opinion to the Governor to whom the increase application was made.
