#Haiti, October 11, 2018 – The most recent update is that 15 people died and over 600 others were injured in the earthquake which struck port de paix Haiti on Saturday night.

The 5.9 magnitude earthquake was nothing like 2010’s quake but Haitians in the northern city, which is said to be home to over 200,000 people were rattled and emotional as buildings fell and people were crushed.  This is video shared over social media.

Jamaica’s PM, Andrew Holness was among those sending condolences to Haiti:  “The Government of Jamaica stands in solidarity with the people of Haiti during these trying times, and remains ready to assist, where possible, with the rehabilitation efforts,” said Prime Minister Holness.

Shocking in this quake for many though was that the tremors were felt in nearby Bahamas and Turks and Caicos.

In the TCI, it was a Provo woman which alerted Magnetic media to the shaking at her house… our check confirmed that indeed at 8:11pm on Saturday night, there had been an earthquake with warnings that Jamaica, the DR, Cuba, the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos were likely to have felt tremors.

Aftershocks continued into Sunday and a second earthquake was logged by the US Geological Survey on Sunday night about 10 miles from the first epicenter a day before in northern Haiti; it measured 5.2 on the Richter scale.
