#Providenciales, September 18, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – It is explained by the Centers for Disease Control, CDC in the United States that HPV or Human Papillomavirus causes 32,000 cases of cancer every year.

It is why the Turks and Caicos is actively pursuing introducing a vaccine, which is usually given to children between the ages 11 and 12 years old as a preventative measure.  TCI hospitals reported that at least 3 to 4 people are being diagnosed as new cancer patients every month in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

During Cabinet meeting last week, the country came one step closer to having the vaccine introduced.  An information paper was presented and noted for the HPV vaccine.

In states like Florida, legislation is in play to make the vaccine mandatory.

CORRECTED:  New Cancer cases is at a rate of 3 to 4 per month in the TCI, not per day.
