#Providenciales, September 13, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – The Minister of Education, Youth, Culture and Library Services, Hon. Karen Malcolm, would like to officially welcome all Principals, Teachers and students back to school for 2018/19 academic year.

“Having returned from what I hope was a restful Summer break, I trust you are looking forward to an exciting and productive school year. I encourage each of you to work hard and enjoy the experience of learning together.  I am pleased to welcome all new teachers who joined the teaching profession this year.  The skills and competencies you bring to the profession are valued and I look forward to what we will accomplish over the next ten months.  Together, we will accomplish the objectives we have agreed on for this school year and those set out in the Education Sector Plan 2018/22.”

The Ministry of Education has been working in conjunction with the Ministry of Infrastructure to ensure that all schools are prepared to receive students and that teachers and students are able to access classrooms that are conducive to learning. We thank you for your steadfastness, patience, hard work and dedication. We pray that this year and going forward we will not experience any hurricanes as we did in 2017.  As promised, all public schools will be rebuilt or refurbished to withstand any future storms.  We are pleased to say that Oseta Jolly Primary School and Eliza Simons Primary School are happy to be at their individual premises and enjoying their locations.

The Ministry wants to assure parents and guardians that we are committed to working together to accomplish the goal of ensuring each child receive an education that would help him/her succeed in life. Together, we will make educational services in the Turks and Caicos Islands better than it has ever been.

May God grant you a safe and successful school year.

Hon. Karen Malcolm
