#Providenciales, August 22, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – The Department of Environment and Coastal Resoruces in a media release on Monday said that we should leave the ‘stinky’ sargassum piling up on shores around the Turks and Caicos Islands alone, it is protecting our beaches from sand erosion.
A notice from the Department has officials admitting that the sargassum is an eyesore and can be foul smelling but it catches wind-blown sand, they explain. The Department says the excess sargassum is a problem and that they are working out how to balance this phenomenon which is, of late, a nuisance to beaches and countries across the region.
