#PuertoRico, August 6, 2018 – Over 1.7 million cruise passengers are expected to visit Puerto Rico in the 2018-2019 year and it would be record-breaking for the country.  A projected double digit growth by 41% according to the Puerto Rican Governor, Ricardo Rosello.  The boom would come in just under 550 cruise calls to Puerto Rico, the US territory which was hard-hit in the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane season and still rebounding from the blow dealt by killer storm, Maria.

The Puerto Rico Tourism Company said about the first quarter of 2018:  “We are very pleased with the results obtained during the past fiscal year as a result of cruise activity.”  The growth was driven by the arrival of a number of megaships to the island, from Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas and Alllure of the Seas to the new Carnival Horizon.
