Favorite Things – MARCO Alert unveiled in The Bahamas

Here is another one of my Favorite Things – The Bahamas now has its own version of an Amber Alert… and it’s Called Marco Alert; named after Marco Archer, who in 2011 disappeared after being taken from his neighborhood.  The sixth grader was found abused and dead in bushes five days later … a case that stunned the nation. 

The MARCO Alert is in a 90-day testing phase and will use all media platforms to notify the nation when a child is reported to be in danger.   The stride, unveiled by National Security Minister Marvin Dames was announced in July and one component of the new law will include a registry of sex offenders.
