At least 180 cameras are deployed across Jamaica as the country which celebrated 56 years of independence on August 6th rolled out CCTV nationwide. It was launched in Spring 2018 and is dubbed the Jamaica Eye. It is a public private partnership and the CCTV network is established to curb crime and respond more swiftly to disaster. Jamaica Eye is in the early stages and the Ministry of National Security has invited businesses which already have video surveillance to join forces.
