#Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Monday July 7, 2018 – Invest Turks and Caicos Agency wants locals to start looking at themselves as potential owners, investors and developers in the tourism industry, and is inviting anyone interested in tourism development to accompany them to the 22nd Annual International African American Hotel Ownership & Investment Summit & Trade show or #NABHOOD.

The summit is taking place at the Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel in #Miami, Florida from July 25th to the 27th. , 2018.  This is Invest TCI’s second trip to the Summit and the executives want the Turks and Caicos to be represented well on the international circuit.

Senior Vice-President for Investor Services, Angela Musgrove iterated that the tourism industry should not be forgotten when we are thinking about diversification of the Island’s economy.

“The hotel and tourism industry is our main stay and it will be that for quite a while so while we look at the efforts to diversify; we also recognize the opportunities that still exist in the hospitality and tourism industry.  We want to make sure that those opportunities are exploited as best as possible.  And those opportunities can be focused towards increasing domestic and local investment in this sector.”

Investment Services Executive, Rochelle Thompson who will be giving a presentation about Turks and Caicos investment opportunities at the Summit  said that from Invest Turks and Caicos Agency’s perspective going to the trade show was a no-brainer.

“The NABHOOD event is specifically geared toward hotel development and ownership. And it is one that we feel is poised for more hotel development so representing Turks and Caicos was easy because at most conference we go to Turks and Caicos is at the top of investors list.”

Thompson will be taking from the Summit as much information as possible, she says, on the know-how and expertise for tourism development and it will help the Agency assist Turks and Caicos Islanders in becoming hotel owners and developers.

“My philosophy is that it only takes a spark to get a fire going; so the more and more on how we can become involved in the hotel development industry the more local interest there will be.  We have Turks and Caicos Islanders that are involved in multi-million dollars businesses on the island and our aim really is to shift the focus to hotel development but it all goes back to understanding how this can be done.”

The 2018  NABHOOD Summit  is described  as a three day educational summit designed to educate people on becoming hotel owners or investors, share minority investment trends, explore supplier opportunities, learn how to market to minorities and discuss diversity issues affecting the industry.

People interested in attending the NABHOOD Summit should contact Investment Service Executive Rochelle Thompson of Invest TCI on  1 649 338 4772.
