TCI: Beaches Watersports Staff Earns Top Certification

Providenciales, July 13, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – Several members of the Dive Shop team at the Water Sports Department at Beaches Turks and Caicos Resorts Villages and Spa (BTC) successfully completed an informational Instructor Development Course (IDC)  provided through the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI)-a leading scuba diver training organization.

Over 66% of the Dive Shop’s team members are now certified as PADI Instructors through the IDC course and can teach diving classes to the resort’s guests.  The certification means that the BTC Dive Shop team is able to mitigate and reduce incidents on the water, increase safety on diving tours, teach and certify guests wanting to dive and scuba dive.

The week- long training covered practical sessions, rescue scenarios and teacher development.  This is the second IDC Development course held at the resort in six years.  Over 200 PADI dive certifications are done at the resort for guests on a monthly basis.  Beaches TCI’s Dive Shop provides courses in Scuba Diver Certification, Open Water Dive Certification, Rescue Diver Certification, Advanced Certification, EFR (CPR/First Aid), Master Scuba Diver Certification, Dive Master Certification and Assistant Instructor Certification.

Monthly courses also include basic sail programs for 8-9 year olds, the Bubble Makers program for 8-9 years and Discover Scuba Dive Certification.

The course was facilitated by Nick Jenny, PADI Regional Manager for Eastern Florida, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos and the Cayman Islands alongside BTC Dive Shop team member, Gustavo Simons who already held the PADI IDC Teacher Certification.
