#Exuma, July 4, 2018 – Bahamas – Bahamians are still reeling from the tragedy which struck over the weekend and caused severe injury and worst of all, death to a group of tourists on route to see the famous swimming pigs.  The Party of 10 was enjoying a lazy speed boat ride to Big Major’s Cay from mainland Exuma when a sudden explosion turned a day of laughter and fun, into a day of tragedy.

A woman on her wedding anniversary died.  A woman sitting nearest the engine, lost both her legs.  Others are still in hospital between The Bahamas and South Florida and two nations are mourning.  The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism  says there is an investigation already launched into what happened to cause the explosion on board the 4Cs Excursion vessel… thousands of thank yous rang out for the help which came from Bahamian Police, US Coast Guard, Health Minister and medical staff to civilians who rushed to the rescue.

The tragedy happened just days before the USA celebrated 242 years of independence.  In the Turks and Caicos, Ricky’s Flamingo Café marked the day with a beach party and fireworks.  Visitors and residents flocked to the hot spot, and home of the annual Race for the Conch – eco sea swim – for the evening’s festivities.
